LEIT & HELD stands for honest products with a timeless design, that have travelled a short distance from sourcing to production and finally to our customers. Our pieces are manufactured close to their natural origin and along a sustainable and traceable value chain.
We founded LEIT & HELD in 2018. Pia Held is an art director and designer, Dana Mikoleit works as an interior architect and Nina Conrad is a sustainability manager. As an interdisciplinary team with a unified vision, we came together to realize the demands of sustainable yet slow fashion. We took the time to ask people what they would like to know about the process of making a leather bag. The answer was: Everything.
While change is becoming more and more visible in the food industry, the fashion world is still a long way away from real change: trend and price continue to be more important than manufacturing and the real value of a good. We want to change that.
We want to break the status quo and show a new way of producing goods that is more conscious and more beautiful. With our first collection, we are able to provide complete transparency about our processes, and we invite other brands in the fashion and luxury industry to do the same.
The fashion and leather industry is a major contributor to global air and water pollution, obscene wastage, human and animal exploitation - and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
We want to offer simple solutions to this complex problem and aim for long term change in the leather industry. We are happy to share our knowledge of establishing sustainable supply chains and are willing to advise other companies with our expertise.
